Lost Romanticism

Sanders' article is a close reading of Reigen, defending it from the criticism it had received over the years, arguing that they misunderstood it.  He argues that "Reigen reflects the
painful awareness of an age that senses the fact that a Romantic concept of
love is no longer possible, but at the same time poignantly longs for that lost
time and constantly tries to elevate love to its former position" (Sanders 58).
